Maggie’s Place programs will be cancelled on days that Colchester County schools are closed. Our cancellation notice will be on the radio. If in doubt, give us a call.

Child & Youth Programs
Youth Babysitting Course
The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Course teaches youth how to handle emergencies with confidence by providing basic first aid skills, and tips on how to cope with common problems. For children ages 12-16. No Charge.
Roots of Empathy
Maggie’s Place is facilitating the Roots of Empathy program at a local elementary school. Over the school year, the students will be observing a baby development, celebrating his/her milestones, interacting with and learning about his/her needs and unique temperament.
Kids in the Kitchen
Children are invited to take part in a 2-day cooking and nutrition class offered in July and August. Drop off your child day one, attend and have fun with your child on day two.
Full Bellies ~ Prenatal Nutrition Program
Prepare nutritious low-cost meals or snacks and interact through activities while exploring ways to take good care of yourself and your baby before and after birth.
Baby, Me & Mother Goose
Join us for a 10-week program, September-December, January – March or April – June. Learn rhymes, songs and have fun with your baby. (for 3 months to under 18 months). Call to register
Child Safety Seat Installations
Book an appointment with our Child Safety Seat Technician to learn more about the proper seat for your child and safe installation methods.
Coats For Kids Campaign
Wilsons Home Heating, Big Dog and Cat Country have once again teamed up for the Coats For Kids Campaign.
Wilsons is collecting gently used winter coats, snowsuits, boots and other outerwear. You may also drop off or pick up coats at Maggie’s Place, 1027 Prince Street (6x or under) and at The Boys & Girls Club of Truro (size 7 & up.)
Our 10th Annual Touch-A-Truck will be located at the Truro Mall Parking Lot. Taking place June 23, 2018 from 11:00am – 3:00pm. 11:00am – 12:00pm will be a quiet hour for sensitive ears and special needs. The cost will be $5 a person or $20/family (children under 1 year are free.) Max of 6 immediate family members.
Annual Back To School Campaign
The United Way of Colchester at 90 Esplanade now facilitates the Back to School Campaign.
The Back to School Coalition helps with planning for the upcoming school year. With the help of sponsors and local community, they are able to provide grade appropriate starter kits for children and youth in need, starting school in the fall.
